Wednesday Inspiration

This quote is one of the reasons why I started doing this blog. I started looking at fashion blogs a lot and was loving it. Nick was actually the person who said, "If you love it so much why don't you do it?" Of course at first I was like, "Yeah right, I could never do that." A few weeks went by and then somehow I came across this quote, and it just kind of hit me. You should do what you love and are passionate about. And fashion is something I love, so why not do it??

So just do what you love no matter what anyone else thinks!

Pale

This is the first winter in maybe all winters that I haven't gone tanning once. I know, I know, I'm going to look 80 when I'm 60. But, at least I've made a new resolve to never go in a tanning bed ever again. It's just not worth it and hey, I got a man (remember that song?)  But when I looked at these pictures I was aching for some sun on my face.  But hey, it's January and I'm quite proud that I'm taking care of my skin.

Now, if I could only stop my Diet Coke addiction.....

Black and Brown

I remember when I was younger how you would never be caught wearing black and brown together. It just didn't work. But, I guess now all those so called "rules" are out the window. That's one great thing about this blog is that it's gotten me out of my comfort zone and made me realize the old "rules" are no longer true!

It's the Freakin Weekend

I can't tell you how much I look forward to the weekends. I love that I get to wake up and usually don't have anywhere to be for at least a few hours. I also love making breakfast for Nick. Right now we are loving the breakfast scramble from Costco.  We love where we live and love having a house that's ours.  There's something special about knowing that you own it and can do whatever you want with it.  We have so many things we want to do to this place, but don't want to rush into anything.  The first thing on the list?  Painting one of our bathrooms a sky blue.  I'm going to attempt doing it myself.  We'll see how it turns out.  I'll take a before and after pictures.

Misikko Hair Dryer

It's always fun to get a package in the mail, and even more fun when someone is sending you something. I got this amazing Misikko HANA Air Premiere Hair Dryer last week and was really excited to use it.  I've heard a lot of other great things from other bloggers so I wanted to see what it was all about.  It didn't disappoint.  I couldn't believe how fast my hair dried.  Usually it takes me about 12 minutes to dry my hair and I'm convinced using this dryer cut that time in half.

Worth it.

Another great thing about this hair dryer is that my hair really feels smoother since using it. You know how when you go to get your hair done and your hair always looks better when your hair stylist does it? Well now I think I know why! I'm convinced they must use this kind of hair dryer.

Wednesday Inspiration

I absolutely love this quote.

It's a little easier said than done, to wake up and not have any regrets, but it's such a better way to live.

Do I have regrets? A few.

But I have to remind myself that the person I am today is because of the mistakes I've made and the trials I've been through.  I believe I am a more compassionate and understanding person.  I also am much less judgmental.  It's true that before you've really been where someone has been (which none of us really have) then you can't judge anyone.

I was talking to a friend a while back about the truth that I completely live by that "Everything happens for a reason and whatever you've been through or going through will work out for your good."  I have seen this so much in my own life.  The things that I thought would ruin my life, have actually turned out to be some of the most valuable lessons.

We all know life is far from easy.  Even as good as my life is, I wouldn't say it's easy.  But I don't think life should necessarily be easy.  We all know we grow and mature from trial.  I also think that having hard times makes the good times that much better because we have known the hard times of life.  So here's to having hope that things will always work out for your best good!

And We're Back....

Note to self.... Don't try to install a plugin on your blog by yourself, when clearly you have no idea what you're doing. You couldn't comment on my blog, but I think I fixed the problem.  So comment away!!

Tired

I don't know if it's the time of year, but I swear I am way more tired that usual. I could honestly go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 7am.  Hello, that is 9 hours.  That should be plenty of sleep for me.  So those of you that could send some tips my way on how you keep up your energy would be much appreciated.

Too Good Not To Share

Yesterday was my sisters birthday so I wanted to try making a lemon cake. I searched and found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. It was absolutely delicious. It was really moist and not too heavy. I even found out what "lemon zest" means. I love making new recipes.  It may not look that good, but I promise it's worth the effort.

Teacher Wear

When you look up what a teacher looks like, this is what you'll see. It seems drab and boring, but that's sometimes what you end up with.  I'm not loving this outfit, but I do love the necklace, which was a gift from Christmas.

Santa Monica

We had such a great time on our trip.  It was a very spontaneous one.  We decided on Wednesday and left on Friday.  I think those are the best kind of trips. Then you don't have to wait so long for them to get here. Our first day we went to 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. I have been there a few other times with my family and friends and I absolutely love it. It's shopping and music and restaurants only about 2 blocks from the ocean. Its such a fun environment.

Then we walked to Santa Monica Pier.  It was a little chilly, but so pretty.

Having lunch at a yummy taco place.  Their fish tacos were so yummy!

At the end of the day we stopped at a  little cupcake shop called "Yummy Cupcakes"  These cupcakes were sooo good!

Jeans

I'm realizing that I wear a lot of jeans on this blog. I'm going to try to mix it up a bit and wear more skirts, dress pants, etc... Jeans are just so comfy, but I look at others how they wear skirts and how they remix their looks and I love it.

Vacay

Nick and I were in desperate need of a vacation (yeah I know I just had 2 weeks off) but we needed to get out of the cold, so when we talked to his mom and they were going to California this weekend we were so excited that they let us tag along. Pictures to come!

Confident

My school kids really crack me up.  It's amazing how smart they are.  This week a little girl taught me a lot about being confident.  We were talking about what it means to be confident and she raised her hand and said, "You have to believe in yourself if you do anything or you won't be able to do it."  Then another little girl came up and said, "I think our table name should be "just cute", because we all are really cute."  And they totally are.  I think if we all had that thought process we wouldn't be so hard on ourselves and wouldn't compare ourselves so much to others.  I love being a teacher.
