Confessions

The other night Nick and I were laying in bed talking about the different ways people speak. We were talking about my cute niece and the way she says her s'sssss.
Then all of a sudden it turned from laughing to seriousness when Nick said,

"I have to tell you something...."

" "Ohhhhh, greaaatttt....."

"I swore I'd never tell you."

"Oh no, what?!???"

"When I first met you I thought you had hearing aides."

.................................................................

"Wait, What? Are you being serious?"

"Yes I remember telling my friend when you e-mailed me on facebook after 8 years that I thought you had hearing aides the first time we talked on the bus."

"Babe, are you being serious right now??"

"Yes, I'm sorry, I thought I'd never tell you."

Then all I could do was laugh hysterically. Then I got real nervous and sat up, looked him in the eye, and said,

"DO YOU STILL THINK I TALK LIKE I HAVE HEARING AIDES!!!???"

"NO!! When I first talked to you on the phone, I could tell you didn't."

"PROMISE???"

"I swear."

We laughed for a solid 10 minutes and then when the silence came he layed another confession on me....

"OH, one more thing....You have a little lisp when you say your s'sss and it's the most adorable thing ever!"

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? WHAT ELSE?!!!? "

It's a darn good thing he said how adorable he thinks it is, because that did soften the blow a little.

He then explained that he doesn't really even notice it anymore and it happens when I'm talking really fast

(Which is probably every time sound comes out of my mouth.)

So then I start saying every word that has an S that I can think of to prove that I know how to say my s's properly!

I mean I'm a teacher for heaven's sake!

But you know what happened??? I realized I do say my s's a little lazily if the S is in the middle of the word,  and it comes out like a lisp but you have to really listen for it.  The word noticed is one I can hear it a little...

TOP THAT PEOPLE!!!

So after 29 years I realize that I have a slight, ever so slight, little, tiny, itty bitty, barely there, not really noticeable,

lisp....

So any of you that know me in real life, be honest, have you ever noticed it??

Sun

This is my new alternative to winter tanning and going in the sun with no SPF. I do always put SPF on my face, but the rest of my body tans easily so I rarely put SPF on. Of course I've heard of people dying of skin cancer, but I always think it won't happen to me.
Well my friend Kellie called me this week and told me of someone she knows that is 36 and just died of skin cancer. I won't go into the whole story but I encourage you to click on this link.....

http://m.cafemom.com/groups/read_topic.php?group_id=99198&topic_id=14158669

It left me in tears and made me realize that being tan is so not worth it. I am a sun worshipper in the summer and I'll admit I go tanning a few times in the winter. But not this year. I promised myself that my life is more important than being tan.

Then Kellie told me about SUN. She's used it and really likes it. It's a mist and you spray in up to 3 x a week and it gives you a tan. Of course, this isn't as great as having a real tan, but it's so much safer for those times when you want a tan.  I haven't tried it yet, but when I do I'll show you a picture and you can see for yourself.

Hair Help

Husbands have so many useful things about them. Something that I never thought Nick could help me with is my hair. I got my hair cut on Saturday and it's been pretty short the past few cuts. We were out running errands so he just dropped me off and picked me up. This is the conversation that followed

Me: How do you like it?

Him: I love it, but it seems like it's really short in the back and then too long on the sides.

Me: Well that's how Posh does it! (If you mention anything Victoria Beckham to him, he suddenly thinks it's great)

Him: Really? Oh Okay, well if you want I can just cut those sides off for ya (dead serious)

Me: Oh you would, gee thanks babe.

Funniest thing was that he said it so non-chanlantly, like I would really let him get next to me with scissors in his hand. Man I love him....

Backyard

This week we did all the pictures in the backyard. I just was too lazy to worry about finding places to take pictures. Plus during this time of year everything is so green, so I think the backyard works. Now that school is back in I know I don't have nearly the amount of time I did during the summer to dedicate to the blog. So you might be getting more backyard shots, hopefully you'll still like this blog :)

A Little 80's

When I first saw people starting to tie a little bow on their shirts I was taken back to elementary school when that was soooo cool. I wasn't quite ready. But it seems to be a theme in my fashion life that it just takes me a little while and then I hop on the bandwagon... Obviously we are all guilty of hoping on the new fashion bandwagon or we would never change anything about our wardrobe, which would be completely boring.

Harem Pants

Last week I went into Forever 21 and found some Harem pants.  I was a little iffy about them because they are kinda like MC Hammer pants, but I tried them on and actually liked them.  Well I got home and tried them on for Nick and he told me that he wouldn't be seen with me in public if I wore them.  He said there is a reason why girls pants aren't baggy in the crotch area.  HAHA..  True..  If you don't know what Harem pants are, I googled it and found an exaggerated picture...

This picture is hilarious and I promise the pants I bought were not this bad, however, Nick would probably beg to differ.

Anyway, I like the style, but looked for some that were less dramatic.  Here's what I found.

What do you think?

It's Back!!

In May my ring broke.  Yes, broke.

The entire center diamond just fell off.  I was driving with Nick and I looked down and it was gone.

As you can imagine I was freaking out!

But luckily we had it insured so they replaced the whole thing free of charge.

I naively thought it would take about a week to get it replaced.... No not a week, try 2 1/2 months.  When I asked them what was taking so long, all they could give me was that they had sent it overseas, so it would take a while.  Overseas?  Doesn't make any sense to me...

But last week I finally got the call that my ring was back!  It's even prettier than I remembered.

This is how I really feel.

The thing I hated worst of all was running into people that I hadn't seen in a while and me not having my ring I was afraid that they'd think I was having marital trouble or something.  I really wanted to explain to people that my marriage was great, it's just that my ring was broken!

Some of My Beauty Favorites

When I like a product, I really like it and I am a loyal customer.

So I decided that I needed to share some of my loves in the beauty world.

Trish McEvoy.  I didn't used to wear foundation on my face, but since the ripe old age of 29, my skin doesn't look as good without anything on it.  I've tried a ton of different types and Trish McEvoy is by far the best I've found. It's light, but has great coverage. It is expensive, but totally worth it.

Clarisonic I've noticed more fine lines on my face and I can actually see my pores now, I know, gross.  So I found a less expensive way than getting facial peels.  I bought a clarisonic.  It's awesome and I've noticed my skin looks better and my makeup goes on much smoother.

S Factor.  This is the best shampoo I've ever had.  It smells delicious too and it's sulfate free so it's not as hard on your hair.  The whole line is awesome.

LiLash For our wedding I got eyelash extensions, but they were too expensive and too much upkeep for me, so I decided to get Lilash.  You put it on everyday and in 3 months your lashes will be much longer.  I love it.

Lip Venom This stuff is awesome.  I love anything glossy on my lips, but this stuff is supposed to make your lips look bigger and it even gives a little burn, a good burn :)

Chi I love my straightener.  It is the first one I've had that gets my hair silky smooth.  Also, I don't feel like it's ruining my hair when I use it.

Brushes Until you've tried it you can't imagine the difference having good brushes makes when you put on your makeup. It's soooo worth the money because they last forever.

Acceptance

Ever since I've started this blog I've realized that I like my profile much better than my face straight on.

Which is why most of my pictures are of me looking to the side or down.

There are many positives of doing this blog, but one of the negatives is that sometimes I can get real real critical of myself.

Thinking how I look big, my face is too round, I am getting wrinkles, the list could go on and on, but I am learning each day to just ACCEPT myself and it's almost a challenge to myself when I post the pictures even though I don't like them.

I remind myself of the

BIGGEST TRUTH

of all and that is

that it's so much more important to work on the inside of who I am.

To develop the qualities that make me a good person.  I know I've said this before, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter at all

what I wore that day or if I was in "style".

What matters is how I treated others and if I am progressing into being a better human being each and every day.
