I have always had very vivid dreams. It's kinda fun for me to go to sleep at night because I know I will be entertained for what seems like the entire night. Poor Nick has to endure hearing about the off the wall happenings inside my brain almost every day.
Sometimes my dreams are not so pleasant. Since I've been married I have reoccuring dreams about "Nick Redd". It's never just Nick, it's always Nick Redd. A lot of times I'm single again and I'm wondering what happened to Nick Redd!?! I think oh I just can not put myself through dating again. It always puts me into a panic and then when I wake up I am so relieved that I have to grab onto him, just to make sure it really was just a dream.
That is the best feeling, to reach over, and have him next to me. It's such a comfort.
I've read a few books about dreams and their meaning. Here are some things I've learned about dreams.
-All dreams are triggered by something on our minds or in our hearts, so the primary objective must be to relate the dream theme to some event or preoccupation of the previous day or two.
- The feeling tone of the dream usually gives a clue as to what this particular life situation is.
-A dream is correctly interpreted when and only when it makes sense to the dreamer in terms of his present life situation and moves him to change his life constructively.
There's been times when I haven't been happy with my life situation, or I've felt stuck in a rut and I dream that I'm being buried with snow, water, or sand. Or I'm back at Alta and I've forgotten to go to math every day and now I can't graduate. Or I'm back on drill team again and either I can't remember any of the dances or I am the most amazing dancer and I can do a million pirouettes in a row. I told you I have some crazy dreams!
I kept a dream journal for a while and I noticed when I did that I could remember a lot more of my dreams, so if you're interested and wanting to analyze your dreams I'd recommend having a dream journal that you keep next to your bed.
I just might start it up again.
I've found that if I wake up on my own I can remember my dream but if my alarm wakes me up I can't remember it well. How weird is that?
ReplyDeleteI might start keeping a dream journal. It'd be cool to figure out what my brain is telling me LOL
Oh people would think I were actually insane if I shared my dreams... :/ mine have always been quite vibrant too. Someone told me if you eat a tablespoon of honey before bed your dreams will b more vibrant. I'm afraid to try because using really want to find out how crazy they'll get... Haha. What drill team were you on? I was on drill too!
ReplyDeletemy dreams are BIZARRE! like crazy insane what on earth is happening kind of dreams, haha. My best friends mom does dream interpretation (she is a counselor/hypnotist) and in high school i used to always have her tell me what they meant..i loved it!
ReplyDeleteI hardly remember my dreams anymore. Weird hey? I used to remember them every night. My sister has the most bizarre dreams! I always laugh my butt off at hers! Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? It's when you can control what happens in your dreams. My sister is a dream fanatic so she has read all about it and it's fascinating!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am pregnant I have the weirdest dreams ever. I would always wake up saying, "what in the world". I guess the hormones really worked a number on my brain. I notice that when I am stressed about money I have dreams about being back at work.
